Mr. Snel has worked almost 15 years in China for European companies mostly in consumer goods distribution, retail and import and export. Mr. Snel was sent in China in 1993 by the French retail group Carrefour to set up the first European retail JV in China in Shanghai and open Carrefour first store in Shanghai in 1996.
Then from 1996 till 2003 Mr. Snel joined a large family owned Belgian distribution group and set up first a buying office for consumer electronics for one of the company of the group. Later on Mr. Snel was put in charge of the import food distribution division of the Group in China. Mr. Snel introduced successfully to China many European famous brands in the beer and confectionary sector and developed a distribution organization with companies in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and HK.
In 2004 Mr. Snel returned to Belgium to set up his own company China Euro Services Ltd with a Belgian business partner Michael Stenger in Brussels focused on assisting Chinese companies looking to set up a base in Europe from his business centre located in Brussels.
In 2006 Mr. Snel opened the Shenzhen office of China Euro Services and a branch company in Hong Kong to better contact Chinese companies and start to assist also European companies for their business developments in China.
Mr. Snel has developed close collaboration with the local Chinese government and Belgian consulates, chambers and government agencies in contact with China especially with the Brussels Enterprise agency (the investment agency of the Brussels Regional Government) for whom China Euro Services became the official representative in China. In October 2007 China Euro Services moved its office in Shenzhen to the international business platform set up by Shenzhen vice Mayor Mr. Liu Ying Li to develop investments and contacts between Shenzhen and foreign countries.
With the opening of the new Representative office in Shenzhen a new division was set up aiming to at European companies mostly SME requiring assistance for their purchasing or product developments in China in the field of electronics or metal products offering a full ranger of services from supplier selection, follow up and quality control.
During its long stay in China Mr. Snel has developed a strong network and relationships in China especially in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong and is a member of many professional organizations and chambers of commerce related to China. Recently Mr. Snel was appointed to the board of the E.U. Chamber of Commerce in China for the PRD Chapter.
Mr. Snel obtained a bachelor degree in Business Management from the Brussels Business School "ICHEC" and a master in International Business from University of South Carolina in the USA. Mr. Snel speaks fluently Chinese, English, French and Dutch.
